Creditor harassment has become a growing problem in our society today. You can get calls at all times of the day or night. Often, these callers call back non-stop, leave rude and threatening messages and sometimes even use obscenities. No one should have to live like this…

If you are like me you do not answer anonymous calls. If someone can’t be bothered to let me know who they are, then I can’t be bothered to answer. Yes, these anonymous calls are a true annoyance but did you know you can block these types of calls from your home phone? It is a simple process of just dialing (*77). If you then decide you want to turn this feature off, you can dial (*87).

Many bill collectors and other unwanted callers have figured out how to beat the *77 block by using technology other than blocking their caller ID. When they do this, the number on your caller ID comes up as “out of area” or “unavailable.” Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about this. If technology has been developed to block “out of area” calls, I am not aware of it.

Of course, you always have the option of not answering. If it is someone who needs to talk to you and who you want to talk to, they can leave a message and you can call them back. If you are being harassed by bill collectors why put up with it any longer? Contact an attorney for legal advice and find out how to stop the creditor harassment for good!
